Vermejo Park Ranch is a 584,000 acre ranch in northeast New Mexico. Oil and Gas development on the ranch is being conducted under a unique agreement between the surface owner and mineral owner, the Mineral Extraction Agreement, which stipulates how oil & gas development is to be conducted on the ranch and fosters cooperation between the land owner and the producer. Currently coal bed methane drilling and production on the ranch is being conducted and is considered by many to be a model of environmentally conscious drilling and production.
