Project: Erosion Control Angel Fire Tributary to Cieneguilla Watershed

After the Project

Containment of the stream during periods of increased flow has decreased the amount of bank sloughing as anticipated. During the summer of 2005 just after the gabion installation was completed, Angel Fire experienced two severe thunderstorms. Without the gabion containments, these floods most likely would have resulted in damage to structures near the tributary and would have produced significant stream bed deposits. The project was successful in stabilizing a section of eroding stream bank, reducing sediment delivery into the Cieneguilla Creek and protecting a vulnerable structure.
