The Colfax Soil and Water Conservation District received a Water Trust Board grant for a Pilot Fuels Reduction Project (PDF 2137 KB) in the Sugarite Watershed, part of the nearby Upper Canadian Watershed. Fuels reduction will lessen the chance of a major wildfire that could cause ash and sediment to enter the lakes and streams of the Raton water supply.
